Pepeha

LI: To let others know who I am so they can make connections to me and my place in the world.

Our challenge today was to write and record our pepeha to introduce ourselves. I found this interesting because I get to learn my Pepeha in Maori because when people speak Maori to me, I can kind of understand it,  it helps me get better at learning a language out of my cultures. Representing a culture that is not from me or inside me proudly, It does not mean you do not have it in you. The place I come from is where I stand my grounds proudly but entering a new journey into learning different cultures just shows the fact that, my culture is not only me representing it but others that embrace any culture.

Kokako Bird

Our challenge for today was to create a DLO about the  North Island Kokako Bird. We used smart searching skills and try to find diffrent information about this birds using the links that was provided for us. What I found challenging about my DLO was trying to find the in infomation but instead of copy and past you had to use it in your own words.  Somthing that I found good about my creation was that I think my infomation was up to standers.

Camp Collage

LI: To create a collage of images or short movie that reflects my time at camp

Our camp at Kokako Lodge in Hunua was the best time in my life, My collage or movie shows the diffrent activites that we have been doing. I chose these photos because I think that theese photos stood out more than other photos.

My favourite part of camp was spending time with friends and teachers because I loved doing activites with them and working as a team.

A Moment In Time

At camp we had lots of challenge activities to try. Our challenge in with our poem was to chose our words carefully so that we painted a clear picture of what we were describing in the mind of our readers. We chose this challenge because we had the courage and the teamwork to do this task together.

Kauri Dieback

 LI: To understand what Kauri Dieback is and how it spreads.

Our challenge today was to use the links provided and our own smart searching skills to find out what Kauri dieback is and what we need to do to try and prevent this from spreading. We need to know about this so that we do our part to keep our Kauri safe when we go on hike at camp. I worked with Ataahua, and what we found it interesting that the kauri dieback can auctally die if it catches a disease, So if you are on a bush walk and there is a cleaning station make sure to clean your when you enter and exit.

Working In Groups

LI : To understand that we all have a role to play when working in a group.

For Reading our task was to work together to accomplishe our task for the week.

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from each other to help us with our learning and help us with communicating with our other classmates. What your responsibility as a group member is to always help other be included and help our group with their work. How working in a group helped you understand more about the kuaka because they all gave information about the kuaka that they know and we create them into ideas. Why talking to others about your learning is important because it can tell us more about the information we are learning about and to help us communicate. Something I enjoyed is that I can work with my group and have some fun with them.

 

Samuel Marsden

LI : To understand who Samuel Marsden was, To see our local whenua through Samuel Marsdens eyes and to understand the importance of Samuel Marsden diary.

Our task for inquiry was to create a DLO about Samuel Marsden and his life when he growing up. Samuel Marsden was one of the first of many missonary’s who came to New Zealand. In the start of his life he went to Hull Grammar School and later on and went to Madelene College in Cambridge. This was the start of his life.  Somthing that I found intresting about this man himself was that he made seven visits to New Zealand in total with his last being on 1937.

I enjoyed this task because I know a lot of facts and details about this man that I did not know before this knowledge hopefully encourages me to learn more about him and many other missionarys.

Evolution of the NZ Flag

LI: To understand the story behind our flag

Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time. Something I found interesting was that the flag was originally made from a missionary named Henry William,  He styled the flag of the church missionary society such as the British White Ensign, Which also is a St george’s Cross with a flag in the corner.

What Learning Should Look Like In LS2

LI: To co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2

Our challenge today was to co-construct ways we can make the most of our learning time in LS2. We thought about what we expected to happen so we could make teh most of our learning time then thought about what our teachers expected.

I collaborated with my group which was Ataahua, Marwan, Donyal and I, which I enjoyed because we have created friendship and collaboration between my group.

This activity was a good and fun task because my team got to show confidence and show there talent.
