Waltzing Matilda

LI: To understand the story within the poem

For Reading, we learned about a poem/song called Waltzing Matilda. We read a text that talked about a swagman traveling from one place to another. In the poem, for every end of the line there is “You’ll come a Waltzing Matilda with me”. When we read the poem, we answered all of the questions with our own words and what we know about it. We were challenged to create a DLO that reflects the analysis of the poem and to summarise the poem with exactly 25 words. We enjoyed doing this activity because we got to learn his history and understand.

Working In Groups

LI : To understand that we all have a role to play when working in a group.

For Reading our task was to work together to accomplishe our task for the week.

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from each other to help us with our learning and help us with communicating with our other classmates. What your responsibility as a group member is to always help other be included and help our group with their work. How working in a group helped you understand more about the kuaka because they all gave information about the kuaka that they know and we create them into ideas. Why talking to others about your learning is important because it can tell us more about the information we are learning about and to help us communicate. Something I enjoyed is that I can work with my group and have some fun with them.

Samuel Marsden

LI : To understand who Samuel Marsden was, To see our local whenua through Samuel Marsdens eyes and to understand the importance of Samuel Marsden diary.

Our task for inquiry was to create a DLO about Samuel Marsden and his life when he growing up. Samuel Marsden was one of the first of many missonary’s who came to New Zealand. In the start of his life he went to Hull Grammar School and later on and went to Madelene College in Cambridge. This was the start of his life.  Somthing that I found intresting about this man himself was that he made seven visits to New Zealand in total with his last being on 1937.

I enjoyed this task because I know a lot of facts and details about this man that I did not know before this knowledge hopefully encourages me to learn more about him and many other missionarys.

Addition Poster

Today, I had the opportunity to create a poster about [maths concept] as part of our maths lesson. This poster is designed to break down the concept into easy-to-understand parts, using my own words and examples. I included 2-3 example problems to show how [maths concept] works in practice and provided clear solutions to help anyone who might be struggling with it. I also added a diagram to visually explain the concept, making it more engaging. I hope this poster helps others understand [maths concept] better and makes learning maths fun! Check it out below! Howick Historical Village

On the trip the first activity that we did was to experience the houses. An interesting fact about the house in the 1850’s is that it is called a victorian house. After all the experiencing we went onto building trolleys.Miss Holis helped us build the trolleys , Recently in the 1850’s the girls were not allowed to build trolleys.

After the trolleys we ended the day with making some butter.an interesting fact is that when they made butter in the olden days they used butter paddles to shape the butter into a square.

I Can See So I Can Infer

This week I learned about what I can see so I can infer.

I can see where you see something with your eyes. For example  : A cup is what you see. I can infer where you describe something.

First I had to get a partner to work with so I can infer. For example : Brooke would be my partner and we work together.

Next I had to find 3 type of pictures. It could be an animal, human, or an object. We picked animals. The 3 animals were a Kangaroo, Koala, and a turtle.

Then I had to look with my eyes at what I could see out of the picture. For example : I can see baby turtles So I can infer they are going to the sea.

Lastly I had to write 1 I can see and 5 I can infer. For example : I can see a Koala in the background. So I can infer it is playing.

I enjoyed picking 3 pictures. I did well at writing. I need to improve on writing down something much better.
