To do this you can you write a list or phrases that connect to the topic painting a picture in the reader’s minds. The instructions were to follow the structure used to write your paired poem to construct a list Poem with your partner. Me and my partner decided to pick the topic, What my parents say to me.

Algorithim Addition

For this task, we have been making DLO’s about maths Algorthims. Algorithims are placements for the numbers that make the question that your doing easier. We have made Multiplication, Subtraction addition, short division and long division. After we finish these tasks we could do more in the future like rounding and decimals. If you want to learn more about Alogrithim Addition look at our DLO to help you learn more.

Samoan Language Week

Talofa Lava Everybody, Last week was Samaon Language Week. Our goal with the video was to show that when kids move from a Samoan speaking home environment into an English speaking classroom, they might need some extra help learning new words, understanding instructions, and adjusting to the different way of communicating in school. We wanted to highlight the importance of supporting these children so they can succeed and feel included. Overall, it was a project to celebrate Samoan language week, raise awareness about the needs of Samoan speaking students, and create something educational and fun that could help both children and teachers understand what’s involved when learning crosses language boundaries.

Tech At Tamaki College

My school participate’s in what we call Tech. What we do for Tech is we split off into different groups. Each group focuses on a different subject. The subjects are Digital Technology, Sewing, Cooking and Te Reo. I am participating in the Te Reo class. For the Te Reo class we have an amazing teacher called Matua Adrien. We have been learning about the weaving and about Marae’s around Auckland. We also learnt abou the names of the part in Maori. As we finished off our class we finished by singing a song call Whakarongo Ako Au.

Learning Journey

For this task, I created a Learning Journey DLO to showcase some of the work I have completed this year in reading, writing, maths, and AI. I linked my learning to my blog posts so my teachers and whānau could see the progress I have made throughout the year. While creating this DLO, I reflected on the different activities and skills I have worked on across each subject. It was interesting looking back at all the tasks we have completed and seeing how much my confidence and understanding have grown over time.

Reading (Learning Conversation)

For reading this week, our task was to discuss in our groups about the the following questions.

Our responses were simple but strong, in our group we discussed and ask for each other’s opinion before adding on to get our final responses for both questions.  We used the information from the videos we watched as a class to show our understanding.  Our challege was to interact with each other to try to keep the conversation going with each question.

Teacher Only Day ( Kapa Haka Performance )

On May the 29th, Kapa Haka performed at the Teacher Only Day.  We had to arrive at school at 8:00 AM to get ready, put on our kapa haka clothes, and get our moko stamped on our faces. After a quick warm-up, we left the changing rooms and performed at 9:00 AM.

We had practised for this day for a long time, and we finally got to put all that hard work into action! We performed the items Tāmaki ETuiMatariki, as well as the haka and a karakia. At the end, we formed a pathway to welcome our guests in. So many of them commented on how good our performance was. In my own opinion I think that we did a very good job at performing these songs.

Abstract Noun ( Poetry )

This week we are leaning about Abstract Noun’s. Abstract Noun’s are words that can’t be touched, For example your feelings, Happiness , Guilt , Sadness and confusion. You cannot touch any of your feelings.  An abstract noun is a word for things you cannot touch, see , hear , taste , or feel. Instead of being physical objects, they are ideas, feelings and qualities. For this task we had two jobs. Our first job to accomplish was to create an abstract poem describing our five senses. Vision, Audition, Olfaction, Tactial and Gustation.

Our second job was to accomplish another poem picking another Absctract word to describe. After doing that we presented our work to the class and talked about our word. The two words me and my partner picked were Friendship and perserverance. We picked these two words because we thought that it stood out among all of the other words.

Math ( Word Problems )

In maths, We learned how to read each question carefully, identify the important information, and decide which operations or strategies to use. We also included examples to show how some word problems can involve more than one step and require us to think carefully about what the question is asking.

While working on this task, I learned that word problems are easier to solve when you break them down into smaller parts and focus on one step at a time. I also learned that it is important to show your working, as it helps explain your thinking and allows you to check your answer. Something I found interesting was that there can sometimes be more than one way to solve a problem, but you should always choose a strategy that makes sense.

Panmure Basin Digital Art

We have decided to create a art piece of the new bridge that has been made recently. This task was very interesting because I have had the ability to learn more about the basin walk and create this art piece at the same time. Last week, we created a tracing based on the Panmure Basin after recently visiting it. The basin is an important part of our local area, so it was interesting using it as inspiration for our artwork and connecting our learning outside the classroom back into art. While working on my art I have found my work very realistic to the picture.
